Lead Elders

James Barnes: Lead Elder

James and Abby have been married for over 9 years and met as Abby was concluding her graduate work in counseling.  They have two kids (Liam and Cora) and have been actively involved in ministry for years. James (originally from Welcome, NC) and Abby (originally from Roanoke, VA) both moved to Lynchburg to pursue college. Since 2016, James has served on the pastoral staff of Bedrock Church Lynchburg. Abby serves as a licensed professional counselor in the community and also helps lead the women’s ministry at their local church.

Over the past couple years God has been orchestrating and leading James and Abby into a new ministry direction focused on planting a church. Directing their steps along the way, God has made it abundantly clear that the Barnes family’s next act of obedience is to plant a church in Madison Heights. Moving forward in faith as exemplified in Joshua 3, the Barnes family is excited for the team that God is establishing and looks forward to how the Lord is going to use the Puig and Barnes families for His Kingdom.

John Puig: Lead Elder

John and Danielle met at Liberty University and have been married since 2007. John grew up in Roanoke, VA and Danielle in Charlotte, NC and Ethiopia. They have 5 lively “Puiglets”, Elijah, Zeke, Noelle, Micah, and Zebedee. John and Danielle both graduated from Liberty University and John also completed his M.Div in 2015. Danielle loves to stay at home with the kids, homeschool, and serve the body of Christ. They love Jesus, His church, and the nations! 

John worked in the international ministry department at Liberty for 9 years, and as a family they were about to move to Asia for ministry with an unreached people group when the Lord redirected their path and called them into church ministry. Since then, John has served as an Associate Pastor at Midway Baptist Church in Phenix, VA for the past seven years. ​

While at Midway, Jesus began developing in John a heart for church planting and eventually some of the elders at Bedrock approached him about planting a church. After much prayer, the Lord’s call to plant a church was evident and the Puigs are excited for what Jesus is going to do in and through Bedrock Church Madison Heights! 

Guiding Elders

Jeremy Minor: Guiding Elder

For the past 7 years, Jeremy has been a leading elder at Bedrock in Bedford, Virginia. He and his beautiful wife Tonya have the joy of encouraging and teaching their four children, Austen, Luke, Elle, and Grace, to find their place in the world and identity in Christ. He is a graduate of The College at Southeastern. Perhaps as a sign of the crazy journey of church planting to come, God began Jeremy’s ministry as a junior high school pastor. From his family, to students, to entire communities, Jeremy is passionate about seeing the grace of Jesus transform people’s lives in exciting and lasting ways.

Buck Romero: Guiding ElderLe

Buck and his wife, Alissa were married in 2007 and since that time they have had three children and many wonderful experiences of God’s grace and mercies. It is because of God’’s work in Buck’s life that Buck is compelled to tell others about the love of God and to help others grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. The Good News of Jesus is only good if people hear it and respond in faith to it. Buck is prayerful for Bedrock Madison Heights believing that God will continue to use the local church as outpost for His Good News!
